When I started with Toastmasters in 2008, my only goal was to learn to speak coherent sentences again after my ordeal with cancer radiation treatment left me unable to speak a coherent sentence. It was much to my surprise that, from the day I joined, my speaking skills improved exponentially. I was really surprised when a few short months after joining my local club, I took second in my first speech contest! Through my Toastmasters experience, I have held many different roles, from Vice President of Education, President, Club Coach to Area Governor and competed in many speech contests and even won a few. But no matter what role I inhabit, my goal is always focused towards helping others build the confidence and skills they need to become truly impactful speakers to change our world for the better.
